Online Programme

Our online marketing programme is the practice of leveraging web-based channels to spread a message about a company's brand, products, or services to its potential customers. The methods and techniques used for online marketing include email, social media, display advertising, search engine optimization, Google AdWords and more.

Overview

Astute marketing practices are the bedrock of successful enterprises the world over and effective and efficient customer management is also an absolute sine qua non for the success of any business enterprise. In line with the vision of the University of Ghana, the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School is a world class Department providing marketing and entrepreneurial education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Department is the premier Marketing Department in Ghana.

The Department is an innovative unit that continues to define its mission around the creation of world class marketing personnel for public, private, and not for profit sectors in Ghana and beyond and also facilitates the continuing professional development of its faculty. Faculty members in the Department conduct research in green marketing, e-business, marketing communications, entrepreneurship, international marketing, international business, tourism, corporate social responsibility and bank marketing and provide cutting-edge marketing and management advice to organizations within and outside of the University of Ghana. The Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship is one of the six academic departments of the University of Ghana Business School. The Department has well qualified and experienced lecturers.

Programme Details

The programme aims at producing competent graduates to deal with the current and emerging complexities in industry and in their communities. Graduates are expected to recognize opportunities and develop appropriate business solutions that seek to address a particular issue. In fulfilling this, the programmes are designed to: Produce competent, innovative and dedicated graduates with knowledge, skills and initiative to provide the human resource capacity to meet the demands of national and international business environments. Develop entrepreneurial and basic business skills to enable students recognize opportunities and develop businesses to facilitate service delivery.

Based on the level of entry, the credits required for the award of first degree are as follows: * Level 100: A maximum of 132 credits and a minimum of 120 credits. * Level 200: A maximum of 102 credits with a minimum of 96 credits. * Level 300: A maximum of 72 credits and a minimum of 60 credits

Academic Learning Experience

Upon completion of the Knutsford University College bachelor's degree programme in Marketing, a graduate will be:

  • The Marketing Strategist: Demonstrate mastery in marketing strategy by applying market research data, consumer behavior theory, and in-depth analysis to create a strong foundation for the development of a brand that resonates with stakeholders.
  • The Savvy Communicator: Exhibit multi-channel media fluency, applying communication skills including oral, written, visual, digital, and technological to successfully engage multiple stakeholders.
  • The Data-Driven Marketer: Intentionally utilize an ethical, analytic, data-driven approach to continuously improve marketing approaches.
  • The Ethical Marketer: Carefully evaluate and assess not only the legal but also the ethical implications of strategic marketing campaigns, as well as their own individual actions and decisions.
  • The Life-Long Learner: Stay up to date in relevant marketing disciplines through formal and informal learning opportunities; continuous observation, investigation, and exploration; and an appreciation for the rapidly changing nature of the field.

Bachelor of Science in Administration

This is a 4-year undergraduate programme in Marketing. In the first two years of study, students are required to take courses such as Language Skills, Critical Thinking, Introduction to Business Administration and Introduction to Public Administration.
In the third and fourth years, students are required to take courses such as Quantitative Methods, Principles of Marketing, Introduction to Electronic Business, Consumer Behaviour and Integrated Marketing Communications.  Students may also opt to write a long essay in their final year.

Entry Requirements

WASSCE CANDIDATES

Three (3) passes (C6) in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Integrated Science / Agric Science / Social Studies and three electives with an aggregate score of 36 or better.

SSSCE CANDIDATES

Three (3) passes (C6) in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Integrated Science / Agric Science / Social Studies and three electives with an aggregate score of 24 or better.

RECOGNISED DIPLOMA & HND HOLDERS

Candidates who were properly admitted and graduated with Diploma and at least Second Class Lower HND qualification from recognized universities and institutions shall be considered for admission.

MATURED STUDENTS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Candidates of 25 years of age who have passed the Matured Student's Entrance Exams moderated by the University of Ghana may be considered for admission. Matured Student's Entrance Examination Access Course is available to interested candidates.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

Candidate with five (5) passes in General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) and other professional qualifications recognised by the University of Ghana may be considered for admission.

Admissions are in August each year.

Financial Assistance & Scholarship

Financial aid is provided ‘as and when’ the aid is available. Students would be informed of all available aid and of the criteria for accessing them. It is the student’s responsibility to apply for such aid. Financial aid provided by the college is strictly for tuition and is not refundable under any circumstance. Students may contact the Students Services Office for details. TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMME SSNIT Students Loan Ghanaian students interested in study loans can access the SSNIT students loans provided by the Government of Ghana through SSNIT. Interested students may contact the Students Services Office for details. Knutsford Scholarship Knutsford scholarship is available for Ghanaian students requiring financial aid. The award is based on financial need, academic merit and achievements.
